About Ev MeynellRevels in interpreting the human form and wildlife in such a way, that he seems to touch a chord with everybody - he is without doubt the most sought after Sculptor in the island, and is a frequent visitor here with his friend and co-sculptor Guy Portelli.
Ev has been working as a professional sculptor for the past 35 years. He works in clay then casts his pieces in bronze or various resins. In recent years his abstract sculptures have been constructed with stainless steel.

Biography / CV of Ev MeynellBorn in Sussex in 1950 into a family with a deep affinity for literature and the Arts, Ev was educated at Chichester High School for Boys and later won an Exhibition to Oxford University where he was awarded an MA Hons in English Literature. He went on to teach English at Judd School, Tonbridge all the time developing his own sculptural style. Eventually leaving full-time teaching he joined forces with a landscape designer and thus began his long career as a sculptor of large outdoor pieces. Ev has worked on many hundreds of commissions for private clients and has established a loyal following. In addition, he has been commissioned by corporations to create sculptures for, among others, business parks, a hospital site, a luxury residential block, and a town centre site.
Artist Statement of Ev MeynellAs well as figurative work, Ev experiments with abstracted forms, working in Bronze, Bronze-resin, limestone, wood and metal. He continues to divide his time between private and civic projects.
Many of his pieces stretch out with welcoming exuberance and explosive energy, and are often stylised to the point where interest is divided between recognition of the figure as representation and response to its abstract form.
